Reading and Phonics
“Reading should not be presented to children as a chore, a duty. It should be offered as a gift.”
Kate DiCamillo, author of The Tale of Despereaux
At Stamford Green, it is our vision that our children are confident readers and writers, allowing them to access the curriculum independently. We want our children to learn the skills of reading from an early age, enabling them to become competent readers and instill a love and enjoyment from reading a wide range of texts.
“I love reading in the home corner – it’s quiet and comfy when I’m reading.”
Emily, Reception
“Books are fun to read – Tom Gates make me laugh.”
Heidi, Year 1
